Healthy Eating

Healthy Eating

The school is committed to providing healthy and nutritious food options for all students, in line with national targets and recommended standards. We are proud to hold the Bronze award for Healthy Schools.

A school meal can make a significant contribution to a student’s daily dietary intake. Our menus are planned to:

  • Establish and encourage good dietary habits
  • Encourage students to make informed decisions about their health
  • Make a significant contribution to nutrient intake
  • Enhance the health and well-being of students
  • Provide an enjoyable, value-for-money choice for all.

Fresh water fountains are situated across the campus and chilled drinking water is available free at all times in the Canteen. Fresh bread and fruit are always available at a low price.

Most of our catering is cashless and can be paid for in advance via the internet on Parentpay or via an in-school ‘revaluation machine’. Contact the school’s Business Manager for more details on cashless catering and payment.

Students should come and see for themselves what a fantastic range of food is on offer. Occasionally the school invites parents in for a free meal at the Canteen, so they can see it in action, and when this happens it will be publicized in the school newsletter.

For packed lunches brought in from home, we encourage parents to ensure that the lunch items are balanced, healthy, nutritious and from a range of food groups.
