As a Specialist Language College, we offer a full range of languages and resources for language learning. We currently teach French, German, Spanish and Italian from beginners to AS and A Level. In recent years, students have applied to study languages at Oxford - and been successful. We hope to offer Mandarin Chinese soon. The local Greek school also runs in our Faculty.

Students in Band A study two languages to GCSE and in Band B, one language. Some classes are piloting the new Asset Languages (Language Ladder) assessment for their courses as an alternative to GCSE.

We are supported by Foreign Language Assistants in all four main languages each year. We currently run exchanges to Cluses (France), Chorweiler ( Germany) and are hoping to re-launch our Spanish Exchange ( Barcelona) soon. Study visits to Montpellier and Berlin run annually. We are aiming to extend our international links through the use of electronic communications.

Our rooms are all equipped with data projectors and some with interactive whiteboards and computers, so we are able to use the latest multi media language learning technology, which includes access from home – ideal for developing independent learning skills.

We aim to make language learning a successful, enjoyable, lively experience, equipping young people with the skills to need for their future in a world which is increasingly international, both in employment and socially.
