The vibrant Performing Arts faculty comprises Drama, Music, Physical Education, Media Studies, Film Studies and Learning and Personal Development (LAPD). These subjects provide students with opportunities to develop their performance skills and to enhance their understanding in a wide range of areas.
We offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities. Our badminton team is the best in Milton Keynes and our netball, hockey, rugby, basketball and athletics teams have all achieved distinction. Lord Grey students are MK schools champions at rounders for years 10 and 11 and the year 7 and 9 boys football teams won the prestigious Milton Keynes Schools Football Association held at the home of the MK Dons.
Lord Grey supports a diverse range of musical talents. Our musicians benefit from peripatetic lessons and develop their experience in the school orchestra. School choirs are growing in strength and number, providing singers with performance opportunities in school and wider community events. Significantly, the music department also enables students to use ICT to develop skills such as recording and mixing.
Drama is one of the key subjects in the Humanities Second Specialism. With A-C GCSE results at over 70%, drama is a strong subject, led by specialist teachers Lord Grey drama productions are successful and ambitious, with next summer’s production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream taking place in the open air on St Mary’s Church Green.
Media Studies and Film Studies develop the theoretical and practical skills of students. Recent investment in ICT ensures that media and film students can use latest digital technology to create videos showcasing their creativity and understanding.
Across all of its subject areas, the Performing Arts faculty fosters a culture of inspiration and aspiration supported by academic rigour.
