No Pens Day Wednesday

Lord Grey ran its first ever ‘No Pens Day’ for Years 7-10 and it was a huge success. The premise of the day was for students to focus on verbal communication and to develop their speaking and listening skills. Our students told us that they wanted more opportunities in lessons to talk about their learning, so we decided to dedicate a whole school day to focus on their communication skills, whilst still following the schemes of learning in all subject areas. There were a huge range of exciting activities taking place, including escape rooms, human snakes and ladders, debates, crime reconstructions, maggot racing, heart dissection and logic puzzles, to name but a few. Thank you to everyone involved in creating such an inspiring and innovative day!

MK Stem Award

Mercy is an amazing artist and wanted to try something new and entered the MK STEM Logo Competition.  She
wanted to design a sign that related to each subject of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) so that younger children could have a better understanding of what it stood for. This was a new challenge for Mercy as she had never entered into such a large competition before.  Mercy’s design won and was made into a 3D trophy for her to keep. Her design will be used on various printed material/literature for MK STEM.

Great Staff Wellbeing

Lord Grey Academy promoted good staff wellbeing with a pamper evening.   It was a great evening and a big thank you to Michelle and her team from Express Tanning for organising.

A Great Achievement – Winners of the STEAM Competition

The Rotary Club of Milton Keynes held the annual STEAM competition on 20 March at Ousedale School. Students from across Milton Keynes put their skills and ingenuity to the test.

The brief for the teams: to attend to a hazardous spill, manoeuvre their models to the site going under a bridge, lower and hook on a magnet to the barrel, lift it vertically up and back (without touching the bridge) and return the barrel back to the start.

Many congratulations to our winning team: James, Ubayedul, Izzy and Daniel. The prizes included a personal invitation to visit the Aston Martin Factory and a cheque for £200 which will go towards a desktop 3D printer for the academy. A fantastic achievement and we are all very proud. lordgreycan!
