Lord Grey Can and Lord Grey GCSE Students Most Definitely Did!

Lord Grey Academy is celebrating their GCSE results today. Matching last year’s Teacher Assessment Grades and a 20% increase on 2019 examination grades.

Our motto is Lord Grey Can and Lord Grey students most definitely did!

63% of all students achieved English and Maths GCSE at Grade 4 and above.

51% of students achieved five or more GCSEs including English and Maths.

The determination and motivation of the Lord Grey students has ensured that the outcomes are a real credit to them, supported by our high-quality teaching from Teaching staff and our high-quality pastoral provision. These results show a true reflection of the work our students have put into their studies, and Lord Grey Academy wishes them every success as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives.

After our extremely successful A Level and vocational results last week as well as our GOOD OFSTED rating in June, these results truly are the icing on the cake.

Associate Principal, Mrs Samantha Satyanadhan commented that,

“all of our students have shown huge determination and high levels of motivation in their studies. We are so very proud of all of them for their educational journey over the last 5 years; these results are absolutely amazing and all the students have blown us away with the tenacity that they have shown. For the last few months, Shaun has shown determination and ambition as he has taken part in DJ Academy with Mr Jones.

To complete his course, Mr Jones and Shaun decided that Shaun would make a Summer Mix.

Shaun has thought long and hard about which songs to use, and has created a great Summer Mix, which we’re excited to share with you here.

Lord Grey Academy Is A Good School

Lord Grey Academy had a Section 5 OFSTED inspection on 24th and 25th May 2022.  We have received the report and are pleased to be able to share it with you before it is officially published on the Ofsted website.

I am very pleased to announce that Lord Grey Academy has been judged to be good in all areas. I am particularly pleased that inspectors saw how our character values underpin our work at Lord Grey and that we have set very high expectations for our students.  I am also delighted that the work of the SEND department has been recognised and that inspectors were impressed with how children with additional needs are supported in lessons.

The inspection was a very thorough process and during the two days the six inspectors visited many lessons, particularly in the subjects that they identified for deep dives.  Ofsted inspectors like to have a more detailed look at certain subjects and for this inspection they chose to look in depth in English, science, geography, physical education, art and Spanish.  The inspection team also scrutinised many exercise books and examples of student work and held several student discussion panels with students.  Over 100 students from across the years were spoken to and questioned in these group discussions.  At social time at break and lunch inspectors spoke to many more to find out their wider experiences of school.  Inspectors met with a range of staff members and took into account the views of parents through the online survey.

Lord Grey Academy is a Good School

From all of the evidence collected by the team during the inspection they have identified two things that we need to work on further.  These are already high priority areas for development and we share the frustrations that students and parents feel about the small number of students who do not follow the Lord Grey Way.  As our focus on these areas continues, we will update parents on progress on a regular basis.

I would like to publicly thank the many parents who provided really valuable feedback for the inspectors.  I’d also like to thank members of the Local Governing Body and staff from the Tove Learning Trust for their support during the inspection who took time out from their busy schedules to speak to the inspectors.

It is heartening to have feedback from external agencies that supports our own view that Lord Grey Academy is a good school and we are now even more focused on ensuring that the school becomes even better.  I believe that our focus on character education will help us to do this and help us to live out our belief that there is nothing that should hold back the achievement of our students.

Lord Grey Can!
