Daily Contact Testing

Lord Grey Academy has been selected to be part of a clinical trial on the use of daily lateral flow testing for students and staff who have been in contact with a positive case.

At the moment any student or member of staff who has been in contact with a positive case is required to isolate for 10 days.  By taking part in this trial it would mean that instead of isolating for 10 days a student or member of staff would be able to take a daily lateral flow test at our school testing centre instead.

The type of lateral flow test that will be used in this trial only requires a swab of both nostrils and the result is ready within 15 minutes.  If the result is negative they could come to school as normal and not miss out on learning.  Students and staff would still need to isolate in the evenings and at weekends.

By being involved in this trial it will mean that if we do have a positive case in school there will be much less disruption as a result.
