Teaching and Learning Committee
The Teaching and Learning Committee covers matters relating to curriculum, monitoring of academic progress and curriculum provision and all matters related to staffing and personnel including:
- Statutory obligations – national curriculum delivery, access to curriculum entitlement, sex and religious education
- Monitoring of progress – including assessment, intervention strategies, literacy and numeracy, post-16 development, careers provision and NEET figures
- Staff working conditions – including redundancy policy, discipline and grievance, salary, performance management/appraisal, CPD & in-service training
- Monitoring areas of the School Improvement Plan/School Self – Evaluation document that fall within the Committee’s remit
- Convening of other Governor Panels – the Teaching and Learning Committee is responsible for convening the Governor Panels for: Headteacher’s Apprisal, Disciplinary Panel for Staff and Disciplinary Panel for Students
- Review of the overall content and delivery of the curriculum – including Assessment 8, Progress 8, BASICS, SEND, EAL, stretch and challenge, exam criteria, NC, post 16 and public exams
- Reviewing and monitoring of relevant policies and documentation – including the main school prospectus and Sixth Form prospectus.
